The Variable Overhead Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the shift operations within a textile yarn manufacturing facility. This role involves supervising personnel, coordinating activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and optimizing shift performance to maintain efficient production.
Direct and supervise all activities on the production floor during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Manage shift personnel, including scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and addressing any personnel issues.
Coordinate production activities to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets. Ensure that all processes are running smoothly and efficiently.
Monitor production processes to ensure that products meet quality standards. Implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for shift personnel.
Ensure that all necessary materials and resources are available for the shift. Coordinate with other departments to address any shortages or issues.
Quickly address and resolve any issues that arise during the shift, including equipment malfunctions, process disruptions, and personnel conflicts.
Prepare and submit shift reports detailing production metrics, personnel issues, and any incidents that occurred during the shift.
Ensure accurate recording of time worked by shift personnel. Review and approve time electronic time sheets and ensure compliance with company policies on timekeeping and attendance.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with the production team to implement changes that enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team of workers.
Quick and effective decision-making skills to address and resolve production issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and management.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and software used in production.
- Work around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles.
- Noise level is generally loud.
- Temperatures can exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Humidity level can be more than 65% for 100% of the day.
- Depend on open positions at the time of hire.
- Weekends and holidays scheduled depending on business demands.
- Standard shift:
- 3 PM - 11 PM
- Safety glasses or goggles
- Hearing protection (ear plugs or muffs)
- Steel toe safety shoes
- N95 dust mask
- Cut-resistant gloves
Minimum Job Requirements: Must be able to read and write. Must have basic math and computer skills. Must pass vision and color vision tests. Competency/Aptitude testing may be required.
Follow all Safety Rules and All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used as required. Any accident or near miss must be reported immediately.
