About the Position

Volvo GTO, Kings Mountain Operations is looking for an Industrial Electrician to join the Volvo Group. The role focuses on electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair components on automated and manual production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning facility equipment including transformers, motors, and light fixtures, and replace broken or damaged components and wiring as needed.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and production department to troubleshoot machinery and equipment.
  • Replace faulty machine equipment such as relays, switches, positioning devices, and controls.
  • Service and repair electric motors.
  • Manipulate automated equipment via HMI, remote control, teach pendant, and other control devices for troubleshooting and service verification.
  • Assist in the planning and installation of building wiring, conduit, and electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty electrical components in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machines and equipment.
  • Install conduit and cabling for newly installed machinery and equipment, including robotics and conveyors.
  • Terminate wiring for power supply, interconnecting cables, data/communications cables, and other cabling connections.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn, grow, be flexible, action‑oriented, and work with a sense of urgency.
Technical Requirements
  • Proficient with voltages up to 600 VAC, including 480 VAC and 277 VAC.
  • Experience with 12 VAC and 24 VDC controls.
  • Knowledge and experience with PLC applications such as Rockwell RSLogix and Siemens software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of motor drives, motion control devices, and multi‑axis robots (ABB).
  • Familiar with laptop computers and Microsoft applications.
Critical Competencies and Experience Required
  • Knowledgeable in the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Able to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP/SMP) and plant safety guidelines.
  • Proficient in problem‑solving tools such as root cause analysis.
Minimum Education Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Technical school or post‑high school training preferred.
  • Five years of documented industrial electrician experience in a manufacturing environment.

Compensation

Base pay ranges from $29.02 to $35.85 per hour, with bonus eligibility where applicable. Final salary is determined by factors such as location, experience, certifications, and skill level.
