LIFT TRUCK OPERATOR I (Mount Gilead, North Carolina)

Mohawk Industries is hiring a Lift Truck Operator to support the Sanding department. The role involves operating gasoline-powered industrial trucks or tractors equipped with forklifts and/or elevated platforms to move materials. Duties are performed under general supervision following standard work and safety procedures and guidelines.

• Operate gasoline-, LP-, or electric-powered trucks to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
• Operate lifting devices such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
• Move pallets, skids, and boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
• Dump, spray, or release materials into hoppers or empty hoppers.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, including:
  • Cleaning
  • Lubricating
  • Recharging batteries
  • Fueling diesel-powered lifts with fuel and refilling small lifts with propane
  • Ensuring the cab of the lift is clean, neat, and tidy
• Perform daily forklift inspections, document and report any damage or malfunctions prior to operating.
• Maintain safe driving speeds throughout the plant and adhere to safety policies.
• Record quality and output measures and complete any required paperwork.
• Assist other work centers with cleaning or packaging as directed by the team leader or supervisor.
• Load bunk injector with bunks (runners).
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Follow all established standard operating procedures.
• Attend job-related training as deemed necessary by supervision.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Reads and writes in standard English and is proficient in basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
• Successful completion of all required on-the-job training.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or MDF plant preferred, but not required.

• Effective team member.
• Ability to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel-toe shoes.
• Must be able to sit and drive a forklift.
• Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and in related supported areas.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
