Responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily production operations to ensure production targets, equipment efficiency, quality, inventory and cost objectives are achieved. The role focuses on maximising equipment availability and performance, effective resource and labour utilisation, inventory control, overtime management and continuous improvement. The position works closely with Engineering and other key stakeholders to ensure proactive maintenance, minimise downtime and resolve operational challenges.

The role also provides day-to-day leadership to production teams, ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently and in line with required standards and production plans.

Job Description
  • Manage and coordinate daily production activities to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Drive Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) of >85% and optimise machine utilisation.
  • Execute daily production plans and ensure effective allocation of labour and resources.
  • Monitor machine availability, production output, running hours and nett mass variances.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on proactive maintenance, repairs and equipment availability.
  • Identify equipment and process deviations and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor and control the use of packing materials, consumables and finished product stock.
  • Participate in stock counts, investigate variances and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure minimum stock levels are maintained and provide input on order quantities.
  • Manage and monitor overtime and contract labour in line with production requirements and budget.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved operational efficiency.
  • Make recommendations regarding equipment procurement and operational improvements.
  • Coordinate machine changeovers in line with production and customer requirements.
  • Allocate and delegate tasks to employees and monitor execution against planned requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate production and operational reports.
  • Promote compliance with quality, safety and operational standards.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Warehouse and other relevant departments to ensure efficient plant operations.
  • Provide effective day-to-day leadership, guidance and performance management to the production team.
