Director of Development and Community Relations

Overview

Director of Development and Community Relations at Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families.

• Under the leadership of the VP of Development and Community Relations, oversee internal aspects of fundraising, marketing, and community relations to support the Every Day Fund campaign (currently $1.85 million/year) and other fundraising initiatives.
• Provide leadership to internal development team members, create and optimize departmental processes to ensure donor stewardship and retention, and increase contributed revenue. Responsible for Every Day Fund renewal and acquisition mailings, including two major direct mail appeals, emails, and printed materials.

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in a professional fundraising environment, including supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of donor databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred), including IRS guidelines and best practices for gift receipts, tracking, and reporting.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Schedule flexibility and ability to work occasional nights and weekends, including representing the ministry at churches, businesses, civic organizations, and other venues.
