American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a community hospital night shift role requiring 2+ years of experience and active NC or compact RN license.

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a community hospital setting
• Patient population includes COPD, CHF, diabetes, infectious disease, rehab, and general med/surg and telemetry cases
• Target patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:6
• Average daily census of 8 with 12 beds on the unit
• Uses manual dispense medication carts, paper charting, and SBAR communication
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• 36 hours per week available
• 13-week contract length
• Weekend rotation required every third weekend (8 shifts for a 13-week contract)
• Floating required as needed
• On-call required only on low census days when scheduled but not needed

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience with blood product administration, peripheral line care, and IV starts/maintenance required
• Experience with oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and oxygen tank use required
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, heparin and insulin administration preferred
• Experience managing cardiac drips without titration preferred
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management preferred
• Wound care and wound vac experience preferred

• Provide med/surg and telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia monitoring and management
• Unit orientation runs 24-36 hours with hospital orientation during the first week, requiring daily class attendance
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM, PRN, or EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and must disclose hospital name and employment dates at submission, subject to facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, as both are not permitted simultaneously
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with additional time requiring facility approval
• No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are allowed if on different units with arrangements disclosed
• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate
