Assistant Store Manager

O’Reilly Auto Parts seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. The role leads the team, manages the store during the Store Manager’s absence, and ensures exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the store team and provide excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise customer service levels and execute customer service programs (Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot).
  • Staff the retail sales counter during peak hours and collaborate with the Store Manager on staffing.
  • Assist the Store Manager in setting team member goals, coaching, and monitoring progress.
  • Participate in the hiring process: recruit, schedule interviews, evaluate candidates, and collaborate on selection decisions.
  • Ensure telephone calls are answered according to company policy.
  • Process online orders, hub transfers, and store-to-store transfers; notify customers on shipment arrivals.
  • Handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
  • Process retail customer returns and exchanges accurately; issue refunds using correct payment methods.
  • Invoice merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before products leave the store.
  • Communicate Zipline messages; delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
  • Enforce compliance with company policies: posted work schedule, approval of changes, and clock‑in/out procedures.
  • Perform store opening/closing duties, including day‑end procedures, securing money and deposits, preparing bank deposits, securing building, and locking delivery vehicles.
  • Assist in maintaining the store building, parking lot, exterior signage, lighting, computer hardware, in‑store test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification and RSS Certification required.
  • Desired:
    Certified Parts Professional Certification, ASE Certification, fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
