We employ more than 800 employees in more than 100 locations across 26 states and operate the largest railcar services network in the industry, including 11 railcar repair facilities and more than 75 field services locations, in addition to a rail services division that operates three short line railroads and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites.

We offer a sign-on/retention bonus of $1,500, payable over the first 12 months of employment, and a competitive pay scale based on relevant skills and experience.

Qualified candidates should live in OH, WV, or NC. This position will require travel to locations east of the Mississippi River. Hours are 10 days on and 4 days off.

• Travel to customer locations to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain railcars to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with industry regulations.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; perform routine maintenance and detailed repairs to keep railcars in optimal condition.
• Perform thorough inspections of railcars to identify wear, damage, or malfunction.
• Diagnose issues using tools, technical manuals, and schematics.
• Repair or replace defective components such as wheels, brakes, couplers, and structural elements.
• Weld, cut, and fabricate materials as needed to repair railcars.
• Perform maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with AAR and FRA safety standards and industry regulations.
• Follow workplace safety protocols and use PPE properly.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair manuals.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians to prioritize and complete tasks.
• Communicate repair progress and issues to management and other stakeholders.

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification in railcar repair or related field preferred.
• ASCTD (Automated Single Car Test Device) certification; welding certification and capability in air arcing preferred.
• Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair; knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with industry regulations (AAR standards).
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and operate in varying weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; prior experience in railcar maintenance or similar mechanical role.
• Must be willing to travel to states east of the Mississippi River; must be able to work the ten days on / four days off schedule.
