PUBLIC UTILITIES TREATMENT PLANTS MAINTENANCE MECHANICHoke County Public Utility Department is seeking an individual to maintain equipment in Water, Wastewater, and Collection systems. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and other apparatus/equipment in the water/wastewater treatment plants/lift stations; performing regular preventive maintenance inspections; troubleshooting, repairing, and diagnosing parts/equipment; assisting with electrical work; welding metals to fabricate, install, and repair various parts; performing plumbing work to install and repair pipes, valves, and piping system components;
pumping stations; maintaining records of preventive maintenance and repairs; and driving/operating vehicles in performing work assignments. The position operates under general supervision and requires extended hours, weekend, and on-call/call-back availability. The successful candidate shall report directly to the Utility Director and Operations Manager.
- High School Diploma or GED;
Associates degree in relevant field preferred. - Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in operation and maintenance of water, wastewater and collection system equipment.
- Must obtain a minimum of a Grade 1 Collection Certification or Grade 1 wastewater certification within 18 months of employment of this position.
- Possess a valid NC Class C Driver’s License.
- Must pass criminal history background check and driver’s license background check; may be subject to pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
