Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) | Hybrid
Employer: Joy Spring Mental Health

Work Setting: Hybrid, with at least one in-person day per week
Job Type: Full-time or part-time; W-2 hourly employee

Practice psychiatry with time for the person, not just the prescription.
You worked hard to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. You deserve a role where you can use both your prescribing knowledge and your therapy skills, with time to build meaningful relationships with your patients.
Joy Spring Mental Health is a small, independent practice providing outpatient psychiatric care to adults in North Carolina. We are seeking a PMHNP who values thoughtful medication management, practical psychotherapy, and whole-person care.
Our approach brings medication management and therapy together rather than treating them as separate services. Through the Joy Spring Integrated Care ModelTM, we help patients build practical skills alongside individualized psychiatric treatment.
What Makes This Role Different
- Longer appointments: One-hour intakes and follow-up appointments lasting 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the service and patient needs.
- Integrated clinical work: Provide psychotherapy and medication management to the same patients when clinically appropriate.
- A sustainable full-time option: Our standard full-time track includes 30 clinical hours and two paid administrative hours per week.
- Flexible hybrid scheduling: Combine telehealth with in-person care at one of our North Carolina offices, with at least one in-person day per week.
- Practical support: Charm EHR, AI-assisted documentation tools, and administrative assistance with tasks such as prior authorizations and referrals.
- Clinical growth: Clinical consultation, therapy skill development, and opportunities to strengthen your approach to whole-person psychiatric care.
What You Will Do
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing assessments for adult outpatients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that integrate medication management, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and attention to relevant lifestyle factors.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications using evidence-based clinical judgment and shared decision-making.
- Deliver psychotherapy within your training, competence, and scope of practice. Training in the Joy Spring Integrated Care ModelTM provided.
- Assess safety concerns and coordinate appropriate follow-up, consultation, or referral.
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in Charm EHR.
- Collaborate with the practice owner, administrative team, and other treating professionals as appropriate.
- Participate in clinical consultation and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
Required
- Current PMHNP board certification.
- Active North Carolina RN licensure and the authorization required to practice as a nurse practitioner in North Carolina.
- Active DEA registration appropriate to the role.
- Ability to provide both telehealth and in-person care at one of our practice locations.
- Commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed, whole-person care.
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, documentation, and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to develop and use psychotherapy skills alongside medication management.
Preferred
- Experience providing outpatient psychiatric care and psychotherapy.
- Training in approaches such as ACT, IFS, DBT, CBT, DNMS, or Brain spotting.
- Interest in integrative mental healthcare and practical patient education.
- Familiarity with Charm EHR or similar systems and comfort using technology thoughtfully in clinical practice.
Compensation and Schedule
- Standard base rate: $68.00 per hour for paid clinical and administrative hours.
- Employment tracks: 20, 30, or 40 clinical hours per week when fully ramped, plus two paid administrative hours per week.
- Rate differentials: Qualifying clinicians may receive a higher hourly rate for maintaining their own approved collaborating physician agreement. Eligible full-time clinicians who waive practice medical coverage may also qualify for a differential. Written terms and eligibility apply.
- Hourly employment: This is not a guaranteed annual salary. Earnings depend on paid hours as your caseload develops.
