The Health & Fitness Center hosts a dedicated team of exercise specialists, certified instructors and trainers who support the needs of our community. This position works closely with all areas within the facility to serve members. Teamwork, critical thinking and compassionate service are essential in delivering high quality programs and services to members, patients and guests.

• Maintains order by enforcing pool rules and regulations.
• Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning or other unsafe situations.
• Provides first aid and emergency care as needed.
• Tests water chemistry and maintains cleanliness of pool and pool area.

• Health & Fitness Center Access:

Lifeguard
:

• American Red Cross CPR‑AED certification within 7 days of hire.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification within 7 days of hire.

Swim Instructor:

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor certification within one month of hire.

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Maintain a high level of physical fitness; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 150 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Must be able to demonstrate the following swimming skills: front crawl (freestyle), breaststroke, and any skill covered in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course.

Swim Instructor must be proficient in swimming skills covered in Swim Instructor training. Lifeguard training requires proficiency in specific skills as listed above.

Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is a 154‑bed acute hospital with 11 multi‑specialty clinics that have offered exceptional care for over 97 years.
