Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr.
SummaryThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. The program award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office.
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship (non‑citizens may only be appointed when no qualified citizens can be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Degree obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of completion.
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.
- Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
- Residency options include ACGME or AOA accredited programs or other accredited residency or non‑U.S. programs followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice.
- Physicians in training who meet the basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on a fee‑basis under supervision.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: 10 years of prior clinical experience and 5 years of leadership experience.
- Physical capability to walk, sit, talk, drive, use a telephone; light lifting up to 15 pounds.
- Oversight of design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical services consistent with evidence‑based best practices.
- Development of program activities, records, schedules, policies, evaluations, marketing materials, and educational resources.
- Implementation of the PACT Team model and facilitation of huddles, rounds, and utilization of call‑outs.
- Collaboration with executive, managerial, and clinical leaders for policy formulation, resource planning, and equipment selection.
- Staff management: work schedules, attendance policies, performance and disciplinary issues, and mentorship.
- Operational leadership: day‑to‑day clinic operations, coverage, resource allocation, and budgeting.
- Credentialing and privileging of independent licensed providers and ensuring compliance with VHA standards.
- Med‑provider clinical duties: serve as primary care provider for a small panel (~10% clinical time) offering acute, chronic, and preventive care to Veterans.
