Location: Onsite - North Charleston, SC
Schedule: Monday-Friday, First Shift
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of mechanical systems. This role is ideal for a hands‑on engineer with 5+ years of mechanical design experience, particularly in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems, who enjoys working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the development of code‑compliant, constructible designs and work closely with project managers and other engineering disciplines to deliver client‑ready drawing packages.
This is an onsite position in North Charleston, SC.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical system design for HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems
- Develop design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, architectural, and civil teams to produce complete design packages
- Apply relevant mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes and standards
, including ASHRAE and NFPA - Assist with system sizing, equipment selection, and layout development
- Participate in site visits, field investigations, and existing‑conditions assessments
- Support project execution through design development and construction administration
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals to ensure compliance with design intent
- Communicate design decisions clearly with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience
- Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD for mechanical system design
- Strong understanding of engineering codes, standards, and best practices
- Ability to work onsite in North Charleston, SC
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification
- Experience supporting federal or DoD‑related projects
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards (including ventilation and energy requirements)
- Experience working in a multi‑discipline engineering environment
- Must be eligible to work on U.S. federal contracts
- Ability to pass background checks as required by government clients
