Special Education Teacher – Intensive Autism Support Classroom (Grades 7–12)

Location: North Charleston, SC 29405

Position Type: Monday-Friday 40 hours/week | In-Person

Pay Range: $48 - $55/hour

About the Role: We are seeking a committed Special Education Teacher to lead a small, highly supported Intensive Autism class serving four students in grades 7–12. The classroom team includes two Teaching Assistants and two Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to support instruction, behavior intervention, and daily routines. The ideal candidate is patient, structured, collaborative, and experienced in supporting students with significant autism-related needs.

• Provide individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals
• Implement evidence-based practices for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Work collaboratively with TAs and RBTs to maintain consistent routines and support behavior plans
• Address challenging behaviors, including aggression and elopement, using trained, safe intervention strategies
• Maintain accurate documentation of academic and behavioral progress
• Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and the school team
• Ensure a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment

• Valid SC Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working with students with autism and intensive behavioral needs preferred
• Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
