LANXESS is seeking a Chemical Operator to operate production chemical processing equipment and support safe, efficient plant operations at the Charleston, SC facility.

• Operate all production chemical processing equipment including reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, piping networks, hoses, pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, scales, tanks, scrubbers, meters, etc.
• Conduct DCS operation to manipulate equipment controlled by the DCS.
• Maintain accurate batch and shift paperwork.
• Keep a clean and organized workplace following the housekeeping standard established by the Operations Manager.
• Follow the direction of the shift coordinator in a professional and cordial manner.
• Prepare Work Orders for maintenance on the unit and ready equipment for maintenance as needed.
• Minimize waste generation and follow waste handling guidelines per plant procedures.
• Report process upsets, spills, injuries, chemical releases, security events, or other safety incidents promptly.
• Safely operate fork trucks and yard tractors with box and tank trailers.
• Perform minor maintenance on production equipment as directed by the Operations Manager.
• Represent LANXESS through daily actions that reinforce corporate values and a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound workplace.
• Collaborate with engineers, production specialists, quality assurance technicians, distribution technicians, and other plant personnel to safely and efficiently accomplish plant responsibilities.

• High School Diploma or GED required;
  Associate's degree is a plus.
• Good mechanical aptitude and safety-conscious mindset.
• Team player with initiative.
• Must be clean shaven and able to wear a respirator.

• Salary: $29.19 per hour to start. Current top operator pay is $39.87 per hour. OT is available and encouraged. Compressed workweek (DuPont schedule).
