Responsibilities
Assists in the review and recommendation for approval of encroachment permits. Reviews, inspects, and recommends for approval moderate level encroachment permits. Conducts field inspection on complex contracts or permits requiring firm understanding of technical aspects including traffic control, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, environmental, and safety practices. Performs routine inspections of roadway to include low/high shoulders, pavement markings, signs potholes, ditches and other roadway defects.
Assists in training of new employees in section's operations and procedures. Assists with on-call operations for after hour emergencies, and other emergency and inclement weather operations to include Snow and Ice Plan and Hurricane Lane Reversal Plan. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical RequirementsThe physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise. A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
