Purpose: A team of data scientists with a unique blend of business, scientific, and machine‑learning expertise seeks to unleash Abb Vie’s data assets, broaden the scope and impact of analytics and data science, collaborate with stakeholders, and continually drive innovative analytical solutions.

• Connect with cross‑functional teams to design work products and act as an analytics consultant, anticipating and identifying issues that could affect timelines or quality and developing options and solutions.
• Lead and help establish design principles and standards to ensure analytical work product is consistent across projects, optimizing user experience.
• Develop prototypes, test methods, and algorithms using standard statistical methods, emerging statistical methodologies, ML, and AI to drive innovative analytical solutions and create insights.
• Explore and apply advanced natural language processing (NLP) and large language model (LLM) approaches to extract, synthesize, and contextualize insights from unstructured clinical and operational data sources.
• Enable data‑driven insights to support the clinical development continuum, including precision medicine.
• Ensure adherence to federal regulations, applicable local regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH Guidelines, Abb Vie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and functional quality standards, staying abreast of evolving regulations and policies related to clinical development.
• Identify business needs and support the creation of standard KPIs, reports, and statistical analyses.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.
• Strategize with cross‑functional teams on how analytics can evaluate the progress of clinical trials and facilitate discussions around emerging risks, applying machine learning techniques to validate assumptions and predict future behavior.

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science, or an equivalent field; master’s degree preferred.
• 3‑5 years of analytics‑related experience in clinical research with demonstrated high‑level analytics and leadership competencies.
• Advanced proficiency in R, Python, or other statistical packages; intermediate knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques.
• Expert proficiency with visualization tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, or equivalent.
• Proven expertise in machine learning and other advanced analytics techniques.
• Effective communication skills; ability to convey analytical and technical concepts in layman’s terms.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• History of successful execution in a fast‑paced environment and managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience working in cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred.
• Hands‑on experience applying NLP and/or LLMs to extract insights from unstructured data is preferred.

This is a hybrid opportunity that requires onsite presence 3 × week in Lake County, IL.
