Within IR, the Enterprise Knowledge Accelerator (EKA) team is the trusted knowledge partner for clients in R&D and the Corporate Business & Strategy Office (CBSO). The Senior Data Scientist will join the Solutions for Published Insights and Client Enablement (SPICE) team, supporting Abb Vie’s R&D, CBSO and other business functions enterprise wide. SPICE provides business partnership, resource consultancy, ad-hoc research support for business-critical questions, knowledge and insights mining and analysis, as well as designing and building innovative self-service solutions for insights generation from published resources and internal knowledge.

This includes literature, patent, conference, news, clinical trial, and competitive intelligence data such as competitor pipelines.

As a Senior Data Scientist on the Solutions for Published Insights & Client Enablement (SPICE) team, you will serve as the lead data scientist focused on advancing Abb Vie’s competitiveness by driving Therapeutic Modality Knowledge & Intelligence Solutions. You will lead the creation of new methods and algorithms for extracting, harmonizing and proactive monitoring of knowledge on emerging therapeutic approaches, critically evaluate new technologies and scientific advances, and integrate them into impactful business solutions, to set Abb Vie up for future success in a competitive landscape.

You will play a critical role in identifying and filling strategic knowledge gaps around emerging therapeutic modalities—including genetic medicines, innovative biotherapeutics, and RNA therapies—through the design and implementation of innovative GenAI-based and agentic knowledge solutions. Your leadership will enable Abb Vie to leverage high-value insights extracted, harmonized, and integrated from literature, patents, news, and competitor intelligence.

In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally with other EKA/IR and business teams to develop and deploy AI-powered and data science solutions that support Abb Vie’s pipeline strategy, corporate strategy, and R&D initiatives. The position requires a strong background in both science and technology, and the ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new scientific advances in therapeutic modalities and information technology (such as generative AI solutions and AI agents), given the dynamic and expanding landscape.
