2026 Youth Build Recruitment VISTA - Lake County
The Youth Recruitment Capacity-Building VISTA will strengthen Youth Build’s long-term ability to attract and engage young people by creating sustainable systems, tools, and processes that improve recruitment efficiency and expand outreach. The VISTA will begin by documenting current recruitment practices, identifying gaps, and developing a comprehensive reference guide that outlines outreach methods, referral sources, timelines, and eligibility criteria. They will recommend improvements to reach underserved youth, create an annual recruitment calendar, compile best practices from comparable programs, and develop reusable tools such as templates, scripts, and tracking forms.
The VISTA will also expand Youth Build’s community recruitment partnerships by mapping referral sources, creating tailored outreach materials, and developing a standardized outreach toolkit to support consistent engagement with schools, community organizations, and service providers. They will build systems to coordinate presentations, tabling events, and site visits, while establishing a partner log to strengthen communication and maintain continuity beyond their service term.
Throughout the year, the VISTA will design youth-friendly recruitment materials, develop an internal recruitment manual, refine tracking systems to monitor referrals and applicant outcomes, and analyze recruitment data to inform future strategies. To support digital outreach, the VISTA will research social media best practices, create templates and content calendars, align messaging with organizational branding, and establish processes for tracking engagement.
Through these efforts, the VISTA will enhance Youth Build’s capacity to maintain clear, repeatable, and data-informed recruitment strategies that increase access for youth seeking education and workforce opportunities.
