Description

Bring your OB/GYN skills to a rewarding locum tenens opportunity at Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility in Belcourt, North Dakota. This contract role allows you to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting women of all ages. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a culturally rich Native American community, delivering high-quality care and making a real difference during your assignment.

Position Highlights:
  • Outpatient clinic and inpatient OB/GYN services:
    Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (excluding federal holidays)
  • On-call coverage for 24-hour periods, including holidays, as scheduled
  • Long-term contract with potential for extension
  • OB/GYN Locum Tenens contract position
  • Work authorized under any state’s active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
  • Local or travel locum candidates welcome
  • Opportunity to provide culturally competent care to Native American patients
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive obstetric care, including prenatal, delivery, and postpartum management
  • Deliver gynecologic care to adolescents and adults, including preventive, diagnostic, and surgical services
  • Conduct patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Collaborate with nurses, mid-level providers, and other specialists to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR, consistent with IHS standards
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and care teams
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, care coordination, and community health efforts
  • Respond to emergencies and provide on-call coverage as scheduled
Qualifications:
  • MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency program
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended
  • Recent clinical experience, with deliveries within the past year
  • Ability to provide culturally competent care to Native American communities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Additional Duties:
  • Attend post-award or periodic progress meetings with government representatives as required
  • Maintain quality control and compliance with contract requirements, including safeguarding government property and maintaining appropriate security clearances
  • Ensure continuity of care and timely communication with the Clinical Director or designee
  • Other duties as directed by your supervisor

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
  • Minimum 2 years of post-residency clinical experience in obstetric and gynecologic care
  • Current certifications: BLS required; ACLS recommended
  • U.S. citizenship and current residence in the continental United States
  • Certification of education (copy of diploma or transcripts required)
  • Current DEA license and eligibility to prescribe medications
  • Strong OB/GYN diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems (RPMS preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to comply with all federal and state medical practice regulations
  • Adaptability to a flexible and dynamic work environment
  • Valid driver’s license may be required
