Duties
* Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans.
* Observe and evaluates each child's health and development and reports on and maintains records of observations.
* Prepares and implements specialized programs for children with special needs.
* Provides technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities and participates in special projects. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
* Must complete additional training requirements to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, rescue, breathing, and food handlers.
* Training may be conducted during evening or weekend hours.
* May be required to work other than normal duty hours.
* Must satisfactorily complete a physical and keep current on all immunizations.
* This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". IAW Public Law 101-Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, section 1094.
* A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
* This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, series 1702. SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience in the private or public sector performing work that includes applying child development program rules and procedures to plan and perform a wide variety of interrelated child care assignments and solving a wide range of problems;
interacting with parents professionally and tactfully; reporting abuse in accordance to establish guidance; maintaining accurate count of children and providing a safe environment to prevent injury. OR
EDUCATION:
Successfully completed four (4) years of education above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university (must provide a copy of transcripts at the time of application) OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND
EDUCATION:
A combination of qualifying specialized experience and education that when combined total at least 100 percent (must provide copy of transcripts at time of application) KNOWLEDGE,

1. Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes.
2. Knowledge of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
3. Knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs, and operations.
4. Ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans.
5. Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
