** Shell has created several new career opportunities within our newest state of the art Shell Polymers facility in Monaca, Pennsylvania, and we are seeking your expertise to further build on our Polyethylene capabilities within our team. One of the newly created opportunities is for Senior HDPE Technologist (Slurry Phase) (also known internally as Senior Polyethylene Technologist – (Slurry) HDPE) which will provide you with an opportunity to contribute to operational excellence at a brand new, world-scale Polyethylene plant.

This role is part of the Shell Polymers Monaca Technology team and reports to the Polyethylene Technology Manager. One of the main goals of this team member is to enhance the site’s expertise in Slurry Phase technology, aiming for long-term technical advancements in both the asset and product range. Additionally, the role supports with providing secondary technical support for critical issues.

** In 2022, Shell completed construction of its 386-acre petrochemical complex in Potter Township, Beaver County – approximately 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The feat was nearly a decade in the making, with more than four years of construction activity involving approximately 9,500 workers at peak construction.

The plant, Shell Polymers Monaca, will produce an estimated 1.6 million tones of polyethylene pellets used by Shell’s customers to create products that we see and use every day including – common household goods; consumer and food packaging; as well as industrial and utility products. Three polyethylene units will have a combined annual production of approximately 1.6 million metric tons (3.5 billion pounds).Learn

Accountabilities:
* Act as a subject matter expert
* Mentor and develop operation support engineers and operations staff on slurry loop reactors
* Support the technical services team by providing technical advice during grade slate development discussions, and providing technical support to the Operations Support Engineers
* Collaborate with polyethylene technology licensors, spearhead medium and long-term improvement projects for the polyethylene units, and support / lead causal learning from significant polyethylene reliability and safety incidents
* Drive continuous improvements in profitability, reliability, safety, and product quality, while providing technical support for new products and catalyst development
** What you bring
*** Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
* Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related Polyethylene Operations experience
* Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Polymers industry on Slurry Phase and Loop Reactors
* Strong record of mentoring engineers and technicians
* Desire to mentor and share knowledge about Slurry Phase and Loop Reactors
* Collaborative across all plant functions including operations, maintenance, and technical services
** What we offer
** The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $218,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
