Assigned to a specific unit or floor and responsible for maintaining that area in a prescribed manner daily. The person is to keep an assigned area free from offensive odors, provide a sanitary, safe environment, and keep patient/resident rooms clean and orderly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School or GED preferred.
- Use established work procedures and routines.
- Able to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for 8 hours.
- Participates in infection control cleaning procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional attitude, leadership abilities, and team member skills. Maintains a positive professional role throughout the facility and community.
- Safeguards the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI) in any form including electronic, written, or verbal.
- Familiarizes with and adheres to all facility and department safety policies and procedures.
- Completes all required annual safety training.
- Ability to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Works at all locations within Good Samaritan Hospital Association.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practices universal precautions, wears gloves and protective clothing as needed, maintains good hand hygiene, and manages infectious waste and blood spills according to policy.
- Observes safety and confidentiality policies.
- Documents and reports problems (maintenance, safety, infections) to the appropriate authorities.
- Provides a safe environment through proper use of chemicals, wet floor signs, etc.
- Supports safety in all job responsibilities for self, colleagues, residents/patients, and visitors.
- Reports safety violations or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor or department head.
- Promotes a safety culture to improve employee safety.
- Sets goals during annual evaluations.
- Attends scheduled departmental meetings.
- Completes annual education requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and other conditions common in healthcare environments.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires full body motion for handling and lifting supplies and laundry, including bending, stooping, and stretching. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are necessary. Must lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters or symbols for inventory. Normal vision and hearing required for communication and inspections. Use of office equipment such as calculators, telephones, and copiers. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and sharps.
