Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long‑term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP obtains a thorough medical history, performs examinations and assessments, analyzes information with other healthcare professionals to develop a diagnosis, and coordinates care. The NP formulates treatment plans, prescribes medications as legally authorized, maintains detailed records, consults or refers patients when necessary, and provides patient education.
Duties also include conference, rounds, assisting with procedures, conducting research, incorporating evidence‑based practices, and staying current with regulations and payer systems.
Completion of a master’s, post‑master’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, and a master’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Demonstrated competence by providing care, treatment, or services for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of a master’s/post‑master’s program within the same period. Experience must correlate to the requested privileges.
Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice, and current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances.
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP‑C) or (FNP‑BC).
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
