Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with a ND or compact license, required certifications, and strong assessment skills for night shifts in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities- Work in a 20-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute care critical access hospital
- Night shifts, 12 hours in length, with every 3rd weekend and participation in holiday rotation
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5
- Floating to the ER is required based on staffing needs
- Block scheduling may be available depending on staffing
- Mindray monitors are used; nurses are responsible for reading and documenting their own EKG strips
- Uses the MEDITECH electronic medical record system
- Patient population includes falls, CHF, bowel obstruction, A-fib, swing bed, and more
- Nurses manage insulin, heparin, and levophed drips, including titration, as well as set-rate amiodarone drips
- Charge nurse present 24/7 and does not take a patient assignment
- Primary responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, administration of medications, titration of IV drips, and management of various medical and post-acute patients
- Flexibility to float to the ER as needed
- Support is available from CNAs, PCTs, and nursing supervisors
- Orientation consists of 3-6 shifts depending on staff availability
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- No specific scrub color required
- Active and current ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in Med/Surg required
- Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS
- Confident skills in assessment, use of infusion pumps, and medication administration
- Ability to manage and administer respiratory equipment including Hamilton C1 ventilator, CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow devices
- Ability to titrate common drips and interpret EKG strips
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Candidate may not have been employed by Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past 12 months
