Essential function of this position is to help ensure all children who need child welfare services have a safe and secure environment. Mountrail McKenzie Human Service Zone is seeking a Child Protection worker for the Child Protection Service Unit.

• Assess reports of child abuse/neglect.
• Adhere to policy, best practice and plan and arrange emergency interventions.
• Provide general program administration and complete written documentation.
• Gather necessary facts and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with other social service agencies, mental health professionals, school personnel, the court system, and assist families in their homes using personal transportation.
• Work flexible and non‑traditional hours as required.

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development, family science or criminal justice.
• Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience as a foster care licenser, social worker, child protective service worker or professional case manager.
• Alternate qualifications: one (1) year of experience if holding a master’s degree in one of the above areas.
• Strong understanding of program policies and laws.
• Comfortable with software and database applications; willingness to learn new technology.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and capacity to transport clients.
• Pass standard background, motor‑vehicle and criminal‑record checks.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided.

If no qualified Family Services Specialist III applicants are found, the position may be filled as Family Services Specialist II (SC7004) with an annual starting salary of $50,998.20

If no qualified Family Services Specialist II applicants are found, the position may be filled as Family Services Specialist I (SC7004) with an annual starting salary of $49,356.52
