Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Aide II - Per Diem.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver basic nursing care to provide for the care and comfort needs of patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights promptly to determine patient needs and relay information to appropriate nursing personnel.
  • Observe patients and report any reaction or change in condition to the nurse in a timely manner.
  • Assist patients in activities of daily living—nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene, toileting.
  • Provide direct nursing care by performing tasks such as vital signs/weight, complete/partial baths, skin care, Foley catheter care, enemas and specimen collection in compliance with policy/procedure.
  • Demonstrate proper turning, positioning and transferring techniques when providing patient care.
  • Distribute patient nourishment, assist with feeding as indicated, collect trays at the end of the meal.
  • Estimate amount of food/fluid consumed by patient at each meal from the tray and record the data on the flow sheet, Intake & Output record, or Calorie Count Sheet.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized patient environment.
  • Monitor and maintain service rooms in an orderly manner and prepare equipment for Central Service.
  • Identify the patient prior to care delivery by checking the identification arm band.
  • Recognize safety hazards and act promptly and appropriately.
  • Complete patient rounds on a regular basis to monitor for patient safety.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics and safety measures during transferring or lifting patients or equipment.
  • Demonstrate compliance with the measures outlined in the Falls Prevention Program.
  • Accept care assignments willingly and go to other units when required.
  • Respond to fluctuations in workload by helping to complete tasks of another staff member.
  • Willingly complete various errands as requested.
  • Interact effectively with staff on the unit and in other departments.
  • Work collaboratively with management to improve the environment of care for patients, families and personnel.
  • Seek out and utilize the Nurse Manager and Nursing Administrative Supervisor to address issues requiring their assistance.
  • Participate in evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and support measures to improve practice.
  • Attend and participate in educational programs offered in the hospital to maintain competence.
  • Comply with staff meeting attendance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certificate from an approved Nurse Aide training program (or equivalent).
  • In lieu of certificate, a nursing student who has completed a Nursing Fundamentals course.
  • BLS certification; de‑escalation and first aid training.
  • Ability to read and write at an elementary school level to understand patient’s plan of care and record data.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations at an elementary school level to take and record patient weight, vital signs, I & O.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and families, recognizing cultural diversity.
  • Basic analytical skills to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret and report outcomes.
  • Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Hourly range: $27.60 per hour.
