Location: North Fort Myers, FL
Work Hours: Generally Monday‑Friday 7:00 am‑3:30 pm; may vary based on job/work assignment.

This position is responsible for performing non-journeymen tasks/functions in the field and shop(s) that require minimal training with minimal-to-no direct supervision. Work activities will normally be assigned by appropriate supervisors but may be executed under the direction of journeymen and lead journeymen. The helper may be required to work irregular or overtime hours and respond to callouts as needed. The reporting location may vary based upon business needs.
Helpers are expected to report to designated work location, as required, during all phases of storm restoration.
- Perform all duties safely and in accordance with LCEC Manual of Safe Practices.
- Comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Perform manual labor tasks and functions.
- Utilize non‑powered hand tools.
- Operate battery‑powered hand tools.
- Operate low‑voltage equipment.
- After appropriate training, operate small equipment (forklift, backhoe, digger truck) under appropriate supervision.
- After appropriate training, function as a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) flagger.
- After obtaining appropriate license, assist with positioning of vehicles and equipment between all Service Centers.
- Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
- Provide assistance to customers, both internal and external, to promote a professional, courteous, and cooperative atmosphere.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC, ensuring smooth operations and productive communication.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Must meet physical demands of all assigned tasks. (Required)
- Must be able to work within environment requirements (direct sunlight, night, inclement weather). (Required)
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. (Required)
- Must live within 45 minutes commute from regular worksite. (Required)
- Education and training related to essential functions. (Preferred)
- Familiarity with personal computers, email, and iPad or equivalent. (Preferred)
- Valid Florida Driver’s License. (Required)
- Must be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within ninety (90) days of employment. (Required)

Storm Duty RequirementsResponding to storms will be considered a condition of employment. Employees are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our members. Employees must perform their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's guidelines and procedures.
