About the Role
Join our Fortune 500 client where you’ll support cutting-edge surgical robotics in their Released Product Engineering (RPE) organization. In this pivotal role, you’ll deliver technical bench support—more hands-on than documentation—to enable seamless prototypes, integrations, and production transfers of advanced electronic systems.
• Type: 6-month contract with potential extension or full-time conversion
• Onsite Flexibility: 4 days onsite, 1 day flexible (for documentation catch‑up once proficient in lab workflows)
• Weekly team syncs, monthly RPE meetings, and hardware/product development meetings
• Hands-on work accounts for 70–80% of your time (bench work > documentation)
• Build, test, troubleshoot prototypes and custom boards/harnesses
• Perform first-article inspections, root-cause analysis, data capture, test setup
• Set up and maintain test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition systems)
• Support test calibration, lab safety and organization (5S standards)
• Onboard with SOPs; progress to double-checking documentation and re-verifying as needed
Must-Have Skills & Tools
• Assembly & Troubleshooting:
Soldering (PCBAs and custom cable harnesses), adding test leads, editing PCBs in-house
• Electrical Theory & Diagnostics:
Passive components, MOSFETs, resistors, logic gates, DC–DC switching, AC/DC differential, safety testing (e.g., IEC 60601), ESD handling
• Test Equipment Proficiency:
Oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, data acquisition, LabVIEW, thermal couplers, DAC integration
• Tools & Software: ECAD (OrCAD/Cadence schematic navigation), MS Office suite, Teams, One Note, lab management tools, calibration processes
• Best Practices:
Lab safety, organization, 5S, documentation accuracy, first-article inspections, component traceability
Certifications & Experience (By Level)
• Level II: 2+ years experience, ideally with IPC certifications (J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑WHMA‑A‑620, IPC‑7711)
• Level III: 4+ years experience, strong technical foundation, mentoring potential, deeper certification history
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Strong technical competency and curiosity.
• Punctual, detail-oriented, growth-minded, transparent in communication
• Thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment; motivated by mentorship and advanced technical challenges
Summary
This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role within our Fortune 500 client’s surgical robotics program. The ideal candidate is technically adept, eager to expand their skills under expert mentorship, and excited to contribute meaningfully to innovative medical solutions.
