Drive minibus or van to transport individuals receiving services, trainees, or company personnel by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Conduct pre and post-trip inspections on agency owned/leased vehicles in strict accordance with agency policy; document inspections, mileage, and other reporting; submit completed documentation to Transportation Coordinator and communicate maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Drive vehicle from loading area to community locations or other destinations according to assigned schedule.
- Assist passengers into and out of vehicle; secure wheelchairs to restraining devices; ensure proper use of seat belts and safety equipment.
- Operate radio or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles for service disruptions.
- Clean and service vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories; keep records of trips and passenger behavior via Program Incident Report.
- Perform delivery of interoffice mail to various agency locations as assigned.
- Clean off vehicles following inclement weather; assist with vehicle preparation for inclement weather.
- Perform other duties as required or directed.

Education And/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; and three to twelve months related experience and/or training.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; complete basic forms such as Incident Reports; communicate effectively with passengers and other customers.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to comprehend and follow set schedules.
Reasoning AbilityApply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and follow set schedules; handle standardized situations with minimal variation.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Connecticut Driver’s License in good standing; ability to secure a CT Public Service License (PSL) within 90 days of hire.
OtherSkills And Abilities
Obtain approved certification in physical/psychological management training (PMT), CPR, and First Aid.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit, talk, hear; occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Must assist with mobility needs of individuals receiving services, including pushing, pulling, or supporting individuals. Vision: close, distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment required.
Work EnvironmentFrequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions; occasional wet/humid, cold, or heat exposure; moderate noise level.
