Senior Piping Designer

The Senior Maritime Piping Designer must be experienced and have a working knowledge of the fabrication and assembly of piping systems in steel hull vessels.

$45.00/hr - $60.00/hr

Candidate must be computer literate and skilled in AutoCAD 3D. Candidate must be well versed in various piping systems. Candidate must have the ability to understand ABS/Coast Guard rules and regulations, comply with all safety procedures and company policies, and maintain excellent work ethics, including punctuality and a strong desire to complete work in a timely fashion.

• Review and revise architect provided flow diagrams to match shipyard standards and ABS requirements.
• Design piping systems from architect provided flow diagrams and general arrangements.
• Research installation requirements of system components.
• Coordinate designs with other installations to prevent construction issues.
• Produce craft-friendly drawings based on developed basic design drawings and create drawings for various assemblies and systems.
• Address all changes requested from the craft and work with the owner representative on current issues and change proposals.
• Make and verify all work packages issued to production, ensuring all drawings, nestings, and information for every process leading to erection are complete and correct.
• Develop and update nesting programs for piping systems.
• Work with leadmen and supervisors to solve discrepancies that arise in fabrication.
• Revise drawings as required to prevent similar construction issues on future hulls.
• Develop and implement process improvement ideas.
• Perform field engineering functions.
• Keep current project piping systems updated with all corrections and improvements incorporated.
• Must be a self‑starter able to perform duties with minimal supervision.

Requires an engineering degree or equivalent coursework with previous experience.
