Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Fitting Hull butts, critical inserts and penetrations

* Layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages

* Developing a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations

* Interpreting construction drawings/blueprints

* Aligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and templates

* Tack-welding structural parts as required

* Utilizing hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade

* Ability to read and interpret written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures

* Work conditions may include entry in restricted/confined spaces

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

Qualifications

Required:

* High school diploma or equivalent

OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience

* Shipfitting, metal fabrication and/or relevant experience or training

* Available to work all shifts

* Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required

* Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions

* Basic mathematical skills

* Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools

Preferred:

* Steel fabrication or carpentry experience

* Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment

* Metal fabrication experience

* Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs

* Military/Navy experience
