Rigger duties include but are not limited to:

Electric Boat Riggers participate in lifting, handling, and moving heavy loads indoors and outdoors at the facility.

• Use rigging equipment such as straps, cables, chains, slings, blocks, pulleys, and booms
• Operate mobile cranes up to 120 tons and overhead cranes up to 60 tons; training to operate forklifts and handling gear will be provided
• Use hand signals to communicate with crane operators for safe and proper lifting
• Work on ships, barges, indoors, and outdoors
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, in extreme weather, and support extended hours and overtime as needed

Location: Quonset Point facility, North Kingstown, RI.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma/GED or 2+ years relevant technical experience
• Experience in rigging, lifting, handling, or towing
• Valid driver’s license
• Availability to work all shifts and overtime
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and extreme temperatures
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures
• Own basic hand tools

Preferred:

• Rigging or related lifting/handling experience or training
• Forklift and CDL licenses
• Experience with mobile and overhead cranes, Crawler Crane
• Vocational, technical, or apprenticeship training
• Understanding of crane hand signals
• Construction or military/Navy experience
• Ability to read blueprints

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective written documentation and reporting skills

Physical Qualifications:

Climbing, color vision, crawling, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting

Environmental Attributes:

Exposure to acids/alkalis, cold, dust, fumes, heat, noise, oily substances, wet conditions
