Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location:

Glasgow, hybrid working available.

Rate: £(Apply online only) per day (Neg DOE inside IR35).

Duration:
Ongoing – working on 2 multi-million‑pound projects.

About the Client

Our client is an integrated design and build provider in the water sector, employing over 1,400 staff across eight regional centres and supporting six long‑term water sector frameworks plus two recent frameworks. They operate as a sole contractor and through joint ventures and alliances.

Role Overview

You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and will be responsible for the commercial management of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Quantity surveying duties for managing projects and work packages.
  • Coordinate with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control cost.
  • Collaborate with the client to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Manage the main contract, ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised as necessary.
  • Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
  • Assist in the management and performance oversight of subcontractors.
  • Manage the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
  • Prepare project cost and value reports, budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in managing and developing junior commercial staff.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through external networking, conferences, associations and groups to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
  • Maintain a positive, solution‑oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
  • Undertake other duties, training or hours of work as reasonably required and consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
Qualifications
  • Qualified in quantity surveying or a related discipline.
  • Working towards or holding chartered membership of a recognised institution.
  • Experience in utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA sectors.
  • NEC3 experience.
Desirable
  • Experience managing and developing an individual or small team.
