Part-Time Female Personal Assistant – Cumbernauld Area

About Susan

Susan is a warm, friendly and thoughtful woman in her early 40s who lives in the Cumbernauld area. She enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and getting out into the community when she's able, whether that's visiting a café, going to the cinema or theatre, exploring local parks, attending support groups or occasionally taking a short break away. She also enjoys quieter days at home, including sitting in the garden when the weather is nice, and values a balance between getting out and about and taking time to rest and recharge.

Susan has a progressive long-term health condition and is looking for a friendly, caring and reliable Personal Assistant to help her continue living as independently as possible.

About the Role

This is a varied role that offers a balance of supporting Susan at home and accompanying her out in the community.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting Susan to maintain her independence.
  • Supporting Susan to attend appointments, school meetings and events, shopping, support groups and community activities.
  • Driving Susan's Motability car.
  • Helping with everyday errands such as collecting prescriptions, returning parcels and other small tasks.
  • Helping with light household tasks, including laundry, general tidying up and meal preparation.
  • Providing companionship, encouragement and supporting her emotional wellbeing.
  • Prompting with medication when required.
  • Providing occasional personal care as cover for PA holiday/sickness including bathing/showering and washing, drying and straightening hair.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, comfortable and well-organised home environment.
About You

You will be kind, patient, reliable and easy to get along with. You'll enjoy supporting Susan to live independently and understand that because her health can fluctuate day to day being flexible, understanding and able to adapt to her changing needs is important.

Experience in a care role is welcome but not essential as the right personality and attitude are just as important. Experience of supporting someone within a neurodiverse household would also be beneficial.

  • Female applicants only (Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010).
  • Full UK driving licence (you will be driving Susan's Motability vehicle).
  • Reliable, friendly and respectful approach
  • Able to support with dignity and sensitivity
Hours

Up to 15 hours per week.

Typical working hours are generally between 9:00am and 3:00pm, with occasional evening support hours available. Exact days and hours will be agreed with the successful applicant.

Rate of pay: £13.45 per hour.

Susan lives with her husband and 10-year-old daughter. The family also have two friendly cats, so applicants should be comfortable around pets.

The successful applicant will be required to join the PVG Scheme (or undergo a PVG Scheme check if they are not already a member). Any associated costs will be covered by the employer.

If you are selected for the next stage of the recruitment process, a member of the GCIL Team will be in touch to arrange the next steps.

If you are successfully hired, you will be employed directly by a Private Employer on a PAYE basis and will be entitled to all statutory rights as set out by Employment Law, such as paid holidays and statutory sick pay (where eligible).
