Position Overview
We are hiring WATER METER READERS in postcodes G67 - G68, full‑time, with no experience required.
Do you like working in an active outdoor role? Do you want to take control of your schedule and work flexibly? If the answer is yes, this may be the role for you.
As a Water Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device and provide excellent customer service.
What We Offer- £13.01 - £13.85 per hour basic pay.
- 40‑45 hours per week with flexible start and finish times between 8am and 8pm.
- Average annual earnings £27,000 to £31,000.
- Bonus scheme: up to £1,000 monthly.
- Hours of work mostly Monday‑Friday (occasionally Saturday).

- Overtime rates (£16‑£25) at manager's discretion.

- No previous experience required.
- Progression and promotion opportunities for higher earning.
- Up to 28 days holiday per year based on accrual.
- Full uniform and PPE provided.
- Company car.
- Full training will be provided.
- Full UK Driving Licence – minimum 1 year and maximum 6 points, no DR offences (driving licence not required in some areas in London).
- Physically fit – expect to walk an average of 5‑6 miles per day, lift manholes for water meters, climb stairs and crouch, bend in tight spaces.
- Happy to work in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
- Credit Report check (no county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for last 6 years).
- Previous customer service experience (preferred, not essential).
- Retrieving data from domestic, commercial and industrial sites for water meters.
- 75% of the meters will be external.
- Meter reads are all commercial properties including hospitals, schools, shopping precincts and other non‑household sites.
- May involve heavier lifting due to larger manholes.
- Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.
- Adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times.
Training is one week, combining classroom‑based and field‑based sessions with an experienced meter reader.
