Software Test Engineer

Role Overview

Software Test Engineer – Contract – Python Test and Manual Testing. 3 days onsite per week in Motherwell. Salary up to £68 per hour, Inside IR35. Initial 6‑month contract with a strong likelihood of extension.

Hands‑on software testing covering both Python test automation and manual testing. The role requires writing automated tests in Python, performing manual testing when automation is not feasible, and carrying out GUI testing directly on the device. Work will be performed in a regulated medical environment, maintaining good test records and adhering to a QMS.

• Strong software testing experience on embedded software or a physical device (e.g., mobile devices, smart meters, handheld/touchscreen products).
• Python test automation experience, manual testing experience, or ideally both.
• Background in a safety‑critical or regulated sector such as medical, automotive, aerospace, defence, finance, or oil & gas.
• Understanding of working within a QMS with good record‑keeping.
• Willingness to be onsite in Motherwell 3 days per week (flexibility available on the arrangement).

• Medical device testing experience.
• Some cybersecurity testing exposure.
• Familiarity with test management tools such as Jama, Codebeamer, Test Link, HP ALM or DOORS.
