Job Summary

M1 Support Services is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I - Structures to primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101 (and supplements), as well as industry standards. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct daily Sheet Metal / Structures operations. Repairs, replaces and rebuilds equipment, aircraft structures, and functional components (e.g., control surfaces, hydraulic lines, and airframe accessories), using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and repair aircraft assemblies and sub-assemblies for cracks, corrosion, distortion, security, warping, wear, and other damage.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support T-2 modifications on assigned aircraft, performing both on and off equipment T2-modifications and de-modifications utilizing engineering drawings, blueprints or customer-provided technical guidance.
  • Conduct daily aircraft painting operations on legacy aircraft and support equipment. Repair, modify, fabricate and apply corrosion protective coatings and markings to aircraft structures, equipment, advanced composites, and bonded structural parts.
  • Assess damage to aircraft coatings, check repairs for serviceability according to specifications and technical publications, identify, remove, and treat corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Perform periodic, hourly or calendar inspections as required.
  • Review and complete forms documentation pertinent to aircraft or equipment maintenance.
  • Enter maintenance actions into applicable MIS system and make entries in forms, logs, records or electronic equipment as required.
  • Monitor and lead teams to perform more complex aircraft inspections and repairs.
  • Receive technical guidance from Managers, Supervisors, Leads or higher-level technicians as required; aid in writing/initiating engineering technical assistance requests.
  • Obtain and maintain special certifications as directed by management.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the work statement, Company Policy, AFI 21-101 and industry standards.
  • Perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly "cross‑utilization/trained" environment. May be required to perform at a high level of competency in one or more of the following areas: repair and reclamation, egress, electro/environmental, APG, wheel & tire, structures, composite repair, propulsion, fuels, non‑powered AGE, armament, munitions, non‑destructive inspection (NDI), and pneudraulics.
  • Perform transient aircraft support, CDDAR team member or chief duties, Phase inspection dock team member or chief duties, Engine run certifier duties, QA augmentation, Hydrazine response and Wheel & Tire functions.
  • Complete all assignments and tasks as directed by Managers, Supervisors, Expediters, Leads and more senior technicians.
  • Be trained on bomb lift use to load aircraft with various system pods, pylons or munitions.
  • Perform weed removal and general clean‑up of facilities assigned to the organization in accordance with the PWS. Requirements may include sweeping, mopping, use of floor cleaning machine etc.
  • Travel to receive training to assist other personnel and work centers as directed.
  • Perform vehicle use inspections, cleaning and wash duties.
