Responsibilities
  • The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator routinely books surgical cases for pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients for the OR and the G.I. Lab.
  • Coordinates and confirms the acquisition of services, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries.
  • Prepares and distributes the surgical schedule and on‑call list to appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Checks, enters and reconciles the daily patient charges.
  • Prepares and distributes the monthly surgical statistics.
  • Updates the Surgery Schedules and completes the required Log Book.
  • Answers phones and appropriately communicates messages.
  • Assists OR Director and Charge Nurse with additional clerical duties.
  • Works with coworkers, other departments and outside companies, assisting with the provision of safe, efficient and quality patient care.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a Medical Care Setting.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Strong clerical and computer skills.
  • Command of the English language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in the OR preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
