Job OverviewReporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Supply Chain Coordinator is a member of the Procurement team and is responsible for supporting the supply chain management system. The role requires tracking and maintaining records of inbound vendor purchases, coordinating shipping schedules, and communicating shipping/receiving information to other NCI departments. Responsibilities also include purchasing materials, supplies or equipment, vendor relations management, vendor development, negotiation, communication, data analysis and expediting.
The Coordinator will work autonomously and may be required to take on additional responsibilities related to supply chain management.
- Maintain and create shipping documents for import/export/domestic shipments with accuracy.
- Obtain freight quotes for cost‑efficient and price‑competitive shipping.
- Ensure the safe and timely pick‑up and delivery of shipments.
- Review freight invoices and provide dispute/accounting support.
- Assess potential vendors for compatibility with the NCI supply chain system.
- Qualify new vendors to ensure KPI targets are met.
- Issue First Article qualification orders in collaboration with Engineering and Quality teams.
- Conduct vendor audits with the Quality team as necessary.
- Respond to demand using the ERP software.
- Create a Request for Quote (RFQ) package.
- Negotiate price and delivery schedules with vendors.
- Issue purchase orders to meet demand plans while complying with planning parameters.
- Create and maintain purchase orders via the Indirect Purchasing module.
- Attend internal and external meetings, prepared and contributing as an active participant.
- Communicate potential supply chain issues to the Purchasing Manager and other impacted functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020.
- Knowledge of international and domestic modes of transport.
- Proven ability to solve challenging logistical problems with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal functions and external providers.
- Knowledge of geographic locations with capability to calculate time and distance.
- Excellent written, verbal, and email communication skills.
- Highly organized self‑starter with strong people‑management skills.
- Team player who works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.

- Strong attention to detail and excellent follow‑up.
- Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk, hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates, potentially including weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to client offices, production facilities, or industrial/construction sites.
- Travel between NCI facility locations as required.
- Some lifting of boxes under 15 pounds.
- Must dress appropriately for a professional office.
