Fleet Mechanic

Core Purpose

Provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

• Diesel Fleet Tech: 4:00 am – 12:30 pm, Mon‑Fri
• Reefer Tech: 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Mon‑Fri

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (trucks, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
• Receive and respond to road calls, assign third‑party vendors, and work with business partners on action plans.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and government guidelines.
• Use the fleet maintenance software tablet to fully document equipment repairs and parts used.
• Provide backup support to other maintenance shop personnel.
• Show willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and obtain additional certifications.
• Perform other duties assigned by the manager.

No direct supervision requirements.

• Internal:
  Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators, and Manager.
• External:
  Vendor service providers when required.

• Onsite at a US Foods maintenance facility.
• Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

• 3+ years of verifiable hands‑on experience as a heavy‑duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency related to equipment repairs.
• Independent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience administering an appropriate PM program.
• Must provide own personal hand tools.
• Readable written and spoken English; basic math skills.

• Valid Class‑A CDL license and DOT certification.
• Experience using fleet maintenance software.
• Welding ability.

Frequent: stand, walk, drive vehicle, sit, lift and carry weights up to 100 lbs; occasional: lift or carry > 100 lbs.
