We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Environmental Advisor to join a major civil engineering project in North Lincolnshire.
Working for a specialist civil engineering contractor, this is a long-term, site-based opportunity supporting the delivery of a significant civils scheme. You will work closely with the project management and site teams to ensure environmental requirements are effectively implemented throughout the works.
The role would suit an Environmental Advisor with previous experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects, who is comfortable providing practical, site-focused environmental support.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
• Undertaking regular environmental inspections, audits and site monitoring.
• Providing practical environmental advice to site management, engineers and subcontractors.
• Identifying environmental risks associated with construction activities and ensuring appropriate controls and mitigation measures are implemented.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation, permits, consents and client requirements.
• Monitoring waste, water, pollution prevention, dust, noise and other construction-related environmental impacts.
• Supporting environmental incident investigations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Delivering environmental briefings, inductions and toolbox talks to site teams.
• Maintaining accurate environmental records, reports and project documentation.
• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 environmental management requirements.
Requirements
• Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor or similar within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.
• Strong understanding of environmental management within a live construction environment.
• Working knowledge of CEMP requirements and ISO 14001.
• Good understanding of UK environmental legislation and construction-related environmental risks.
• Experience carrying out environmental inspections, audits and environmental monitoring.
• Relevant environmental qualification or degree.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with site teams, subcontractors and project management.
• IEMA / ISEP membership or equivalent would be advantageous.
• Valid CSCS card would be advantageous.
• A practical, proactive and site-focused approach to environmental management.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term freelance position on a major civil engineering project, with an initial programme of 12 months+ and strong potential for further work.
