the data scientist in the state of arkansas will apply advanced data analysis techniques to solve complex problems and assist in policy decision-making. This role is designed for individuals with advanced skills in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis, and it supports state agencies in making data-driven decisions to improve public services. The data scientist will work with large datasets, develop algorithms, and collaborate with other state departments to integrate data into decision-making processes.

• develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to analyze large datasets and uncover trends, patterns, and insights.
• collaborate with data analysts, developers, and government departments to understand data requirements and deliver actionable solutions.
• clean and preprocess data, ensuring data quality and integrity for modeling purposes.
• use statistical analysis techniques to provide insights and support policy development for state government programs.
• create data-driven reports and visualizations that communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• assist in the design and implementation of data collection methodologies, ensuring data is consistent and aligned with the state's needs.
• stay updated with the latest data science trends and technologies, applying new tools to improve analysis and modeling techniques.

• strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large, complex datasets.

master’s degree in data science, computer science, or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, or related field plus one year of relevant experience.
