Bus Operator

This position is for a Full‑time Fixed‑Route Bus Driver with the Rock Region METRO (METRO) transit agency. The role involves safe, timely operation of city buses and providing customer service to passengers.

Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour – paid bi‑weekly. Pay increases are in accordance with the union contract.

This position is responsible for the safe and timely operation of Fixed‑Route buses. The driver will operate a city bus, maintain schedule reliability, service wheelchairs, and provide customer service by communicating route information, fare rates, and transfer instructions.

• Operate a city bus safely and punctually.
• Meet schedule demands of the assigned route.
• Assist passengers in wheelchairs by securing the wheelchair on the bus.
• Provide passengers with general information about routes and schedules.
• Maintain a courteous and respectful environment for passengers.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience: Must be at least 21 years of age. Prefer one year of CDL passenger driving experience.

Licenses &

Certifications:

• Must possess a Class A or B CDL with Passenger endorsement issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Or possess a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP).
• Must have a good driving record as defined by METRO.
• Must pass a pre‑employment background check, a DOT medical examination, and a drug screen.

New operators will begin as extra board drivers, filling in for days off, vacations, sick days, call‑offs, and vacated bids as business demands.
