Overview
Sterling Medical is looking for a Clinical Staff member who will effectively communicate and demonstrate Sterling Medical's vision for their patients, members and investors. This vision consists of a concierge approach of bringing the patient and the provider closer together and eliminating the frustrations that occur frequently within healthcare organizations. The clinical staff member has a crucial role to help facilitate the patient experience into one where they are taken care of in a professional manner and their cares and concerns have been addressed.
PrimaryDuties And Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect patient care in the urgent care setting.
- Communicates with providers, nurse manager, co‑workers as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic evaluation.
- Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, and utilizes training, skills, and abilities commonly developed through attainment of licensure in their field.
- Might have inventory/ordering responsibilities and is expected to cross‑train in additional clinic areas including laboratory rapid assays, reception and radiographic studies.
- Works under direct supervision of MD, PA‑C or NP to provide excellent patient care to all clients that come to Urgent Care.
- Performs head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassesses as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric, general patient population, and medical screening exams.
- Adequately assesses and reassesses pain, utilizes appropriate pain management techniques, and educates patient and family regarding pain management.
- Revises plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment.
- Performs waived testing (point‑of‑care testing) per clinical laboratory in a timely manner and performs all quality control testing for lab equipment, maintaining records according to CLIA regulations.
- Interprets results of waived tests accurately and takes appropriate action.
- Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients of all ages.
- Knowledgeable of medications and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition, follows the five medication rights and reduces medication errors.
- Provides education to patient and family members regarding diagnosis, treatment plan and signs/symptoms of any adverse reaction.
- Assists providers with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills (e.g., lacerations, joint injections, I&D, mole removals).
- Provides treatments and services at level of licensure (phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, X‑rays, medication dispensing, IV insertion/maintenance, injections, audiometry, ear irrigation, drug screens).
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity; identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
- Acts as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves them in the formation of the plan of care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the lifespan and provides age‑appropriate care.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in a patient‑safety‑optimized environment.
- Consults other departments as appropriate for an interdisciplinary approach.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to clinic manager, co‑workers and physicians.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
- Acts as a resource for less experienced nursing staff and fulfills educational duties as assigned.
- Completes assigned supervisory duties as directed.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Per state regulations, must obtain radiology certification within 90 days of hire.
- Performs all occupational medicine tasks per policy (specimen collections, reporting through national platforms).
- Follows policy and procedures with supply management; maintains examination rooms for necessary supplies.
