Part-Time Security Guard

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Security Guard. This position is for Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and may include holidays. This is a non-benefited position; it is not eligible for insurance, retirement, paid leave, or tuition assistance. The selected candidate will be tasked primarily with issuing security badges, monitoring security cameras, conducting foot patrols, maintaining a security blotter, and responding to security alarms and emergencies.

• Greets and assists visitors
• Checks in/out visitors and issues visitor badges
• Maintains visit tracking system
• Answers phones
• Monitors security cameras
• Issues parking permits
• Ensures security protocol is followed
• Conducts security patrols
• Responds to alarms
• Assists emergency response

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance
• be able to obtain US Government Security Clearance in a reasonable amount of time
• Must have a valid US driver's license
• Must present yourself in a professional and friendly demeanor
• Ability to handle and protect sensitive and personal information
• Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with a wide range of internal and external customers
• Must have excellent verbal, written, and professional communication skills
• Must be punctual, reliable, and self-motivated
• Must be familiar with computer systems, including Microsoft Office software and various office equipment
• Ability to multitask while working independently
• Must be observant and capable of making on-the-spot decisions
• Ability to maintain a presentable work center
• Must possess organizational skills
• Ability to perform under pressure
• Ability to prioritize work and assignments

• Ability to walk long distances in the dark, in adverse weather conditions, and climb stairs

• Active US Government Security Clearance
• Ability to work extended hours, or cover other shifts during the week, as needed
• Working knowledge of Lenel S2 software
• Working knowledge of Milestone Software
