Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring contents are not damaged and striving for at least five items per bag.
• Follow best practices for bagging in various types of bags (reusable, plastic, paper).
• Assist in removing merchandise from shopping carts for checkout.
• Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning and return merchandise to shelves.
• Inform customers of grocery specials and gather shopping carts for return.
• Clean spills, pick up trash inside the store and parking lot, and maintain cleanliness of all areas.
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise, understand store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks.
• Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
• Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers and answering questions.
• Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment, managing conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
• Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Retail experience preferred but not necessary
