Position Summary
Lee’s Marketplace is a family‑owned grocery chain that offers high‑quality products and exceptional service. The Assistant Manager/Key Holder supports overall store operations and ensures a smooth guest experience.
Primary Position Duties- Open and/or close the store according to company procedures, including securing the building, setting alarms, and preparing registers and departments for business.
- Serve as Manager‑on‑Duty in the absence of the Store Director, overseeing all departments and maintaining store‑wide accountability.
- Support daily operations by assisting with deliveries, stocking, merchandising, and maintaining store cleanliness.
- Provide hands‑on leadership by working with team members, setting the pace, and ensuring task completion.
- Ensure guest service standards by assisting customers, resolving concerns, and fostering a friendly environment.
- Monitor and delegate tasks from department managers, ensuring timely completion.
- Respond to urgent issues or incidents with sound judgment and professionalism.
- Communicate key updates, issues, or successes to store leadership.
- Promote a safe, clean, and efficient work environment by addressing safety concerns and following protocol.
- Mentor and support team members, building a positive and productive culture.
- Greet and assist guests courteously.
- Provide knowledgeable answers to inquiries.
- Address complaints promptly and professionally.
- Promote high morale and open communication with guests and team members.
- Process guest requests efficiently and accurately.
- Utilize problem‑solving skills to maintain the “Lee’s Way”—doing what’s best for guests, team, and the company.
- Assist customers with the Lee’s Marketplace website.
- Build relationships with local vendors and community organizations.
- Participate in community events and promotions to drive store traffic.
- Stock shelves and maintain displays according to standards.
- Ensure product freshness and quality by monitoring stock and checking expiration dates.
- Unload deliveries, organize stock rooms, and package/labell products with a computer program.
- Analyze sales data for trends and develop strategies to improve performance.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and minimize shrinkage.
- Assist with inventory audits to ensure accuracy and availability.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Implement safety and sanitation procedures.
- Report safety hazards or equipment issues.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including obtaining a valid food handler’s permit.
- Train team members on safety policies and report accidents promptly.
- Act as backup cashier during rushes.
- Operate POS efficiently and accurately.
- Accept various payment forms (cash, card, check, WIC, EBT).
- Follow store policies on coupons, returns, exchanges, and refunds.
- Secure cash and perform drawer counts and change accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with team members to achieve store goals.
- Encourage teamwork and guest service excellence.
- Align with Store Director/Asst. Director and department managers.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Maintain professionalism and a harassment‑free environment.
- Coach staff and document procedures consistently.
- Age 21 years or older.
- Availability: 6:00 am–11:00 pm any day, Monday‑Sunday; holidays and weekends required.
- Stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Operate equipment and use hands/arms repeatedly.
- Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Pallet jack, wheeler, lifts, trash compactor, wrapping machines, scales.
- Computers, phones/intercoms, registers, cash handling equipment.
- Oven, fryer, slicer; company trucks, transits, and vehicles.
- Temperature‑controlled rooms and equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 3+ years retail experience (preferred).
- Experience managing inventory and controlling costs.
