Position:
Principal Accountant – Property Accounting team (Power Delivery)

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking a Principal Accountant to join the Property Accounting team supporting Power Delivery at its corporate headquarters in Juno Beach. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and take ownership of various projects, adding value through critical thinking and inter-personal skills and be able to research regulatory guidance.

Specific

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage projects associated with the Power Delivery business unit
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive workforce productivity
  • Prompt and accurate customer support (internal/external)
  • Support quarterly and annual regulatory filings
  • Support external reporting requirements (e.g., 10K, 10Q, etc.) as required
  • Work with internal and external auditors
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop accounting policy through analysis of GAAP and business practices. Ensures accounting treatment is practical, cost-beneficial and accurately portrays the economic substance of business transactions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyzes proposed transactions for structure and proper accounting treatment under authoritative accounting literature
  • Reviews changes in technical accounting literature, develops positions and presents to management
  • Maintains awareness of accounting issues being considered by regulatory bodies and advises management of important matters
  • Ensures consistent application of accounting policies
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's – Accounting / Finance / Business
  • Experience:

    6+ years
