Job Purpose And

Summary:

Within our Retail locations, the District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. DSPs cover pharmacist scheduling gaps within the district under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL) to support pharmacy teams, and are accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team.

• Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
• Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap
• Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing the safety guardrails at every workstation
• Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or the primary pharmacist-on-duty
• Coaching the pharmacy team to provide empathetic, patient-centered care and resolving insurance and/or medication issues in collaboration with the patient’s healthcare team
• Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
• Supporting inventory management with a focus on protecting cold chain products
• Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
• Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills, including required trainings and CMEs, and seeking opportunities to expand knowledge
• Supporting access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible (e.g., testing and prescribing services such as COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception, etc.)
• Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and CVS Health policies; maintaining patient privacy and a safe workplace

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list

• Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
